GEG donates MOP 25 million to help battle coronavirus

Galaxy Entertainment Group has announced a donation of MOP20 million through Galaxy Entertainment Group Foundation to Hubei Province in order to help the region to fight against the pneumonia outbreak caused by novel coronavirus and assist in relief efforts.

The donation was made under the coordination of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macau SAR. Meanwhile, the Foundation will also make a donation of MOP5 million to support the prevention initiatives in the Macau community.

The donation of MOP20 million to Hubei Province will be used to purchase medical supplies and equipment that are in urgent demand in the region.

In addition, the Foundation will donate MOP5 million to assist the Macau community in its preventive measures against the novel coronavirus. Through collaboration with different associations, the Foundation aims to use the fund to help local residents in need, including young children, students, and elderlies, in the prevention of the virus.

A special task force of GEG has been in close contact with the related parties in the hope to accelerate the implementation of the initiative. Earlier, GEG had also donated disinfection and hygiene products to the Women's General Association of Macau and the Fuhong Society of Macau to better prepare their staff in providing assistance with the sales of surgical masks to the public.

Committed to the well-being and safety of all guests and team members, GEG has been working closely with the relevant departments and adopted all protective measures against the novel coronavirus laid out by the Macau SAR Government. In view of the development of the novel coronavirus, GEG has implemented an array of measures for team members to safeguard their well-being, which include providing surgical masks and hand sanitizers and strengthening disinfection and cleaning in back-of-house areas. GEG has also made special arrangements to facilitate the urgent annual or additional leave requests of team members who need to take care of their children and families during this period. Meanwhile, GEG is also observing the guidelines issued by the World Health Organization and other authorities, and will continue its efforts in working collaboratively with the society to fight against the outbreak.
