Goa considers shifting of casinos to Aguada Bay

The Goa government is examining the possibility of shifting its offshore casinos from River Mandovi to Aguada Bay, local media reports.

Ports Minister Michael Lobo said the possibility of shifting the casinos will be considered after conducting a proper survey of the location.

Lobo made the comment as he was responding to BJP Panjim MLA Atanasio Monserrate, who said that the capital city looks like a “hub of casinos” with their decorative nightlife, and have made a “mess of the city”.

“I had promised the people of Panjim to shift the casinos out of River Mandovi, and I stand by my promise. I will not rest till then,” the MLA said, adding that he will not tolerate anyone patronising them at the cost of people.

Aguada Bay is located where the Mandovi River meets the sea, on the outskirts of Panaji.
