Government to collect POGO worker taxes from July

The Philippines government will begin collecting taxes from foreign workers at Philippine offshore gaming operators (POGO) starting from July, according to the head of president Rodrigo Duterte’s economic team.

Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez estimated that the Bureau of Internal Revenue could collect at least P2 billion per month from at least 100,000 offshore gaming workers.

"We cannot believe some of the claims that salaries are only $500 a month. I don't believe that" he said.

Dominguez said there were ads in China advertising offshore gaming roles in the Philippines for as much as $10,000 per month.
