Greater Sydney upgrades to 14-day lockdown

A two-week lockdown has been announced for greater Sydney, Central Coast and Blue Mountains, which will last until Friday, July 9. Under the lockdown, residents are required to stay at home except for essential reasons, which includes grocery shopping, medical attention, work that can’t be done from home, or exercise.  All businesses deemed non-essential, including clubs, pubs, casinos, are required to suspend operation during the lockdown.   Restaurants are allowed to open but only for takeaway. NSW premier Gladys Berejiklian has been criticized for opting to lockdown the state too late, whilst some believe that the lockdown is likely to extend past the two-week period due to the continued detection of cases.
