Hard Rock Japan, which is aiming to build an IR at Tomakomai, Hokkaido, has concluded an agreement to become the “Official Top Partner” of Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo, the local professional soccer team. The financial terms of the arrangement were not disclosed.
Hard Rock Japan President Ado Machida commented, “This is the first time for Hard Rock International to become a top partner to a professional sports team. I believe that this demonstrates our commitment and our vision to create a partnership with everyone in Hokkaido and to support the region in hosting a world-class resort providing family-oriented entertainment and hospitality.”
It is also the first time for an international IR operator to sponsor a professional sports team as part of its IR licensing campaign in Japan.
To celebrate and promote the new partnership, Hard Rock will also provide a special three-day Hokkaido tour in early December for seven couples that will include watching a Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo home game. The recipients of the tour will be selected by lottery from among those who apply through Hard Rock Japan’s official Instagram account.
Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo is one of 18 J1 League soccer teams in Japan, but it is the only one based in Hokkaido. The team officially joined the J-League in 1998 and its home field is Sapporo Dome.
