Health restrictions relaxed in Sri Lanka but casinos to remain shuttered

Sri Lankan authorities on Monday began implementing revised health guidelines aimed at getting government and private business back on track. The new move kickstarts public transport, limited to 50 percent seating capacity, slashed to 30 percent in the Western Province, while also reopening gyms and indoor sporting centres. However the restrictions on inter provincial movements are going to continue until at least July 19th and casinos, betting centres and nightclubs must remain closed. The mandated closure list extends to places of worship, cinemas, theatres, museums and swimming pools, however spas will be allowed to operate. The nation's health services director general said that the changes are "subject to change at any time depending on the new developments with regard to the COVID spread". (Daily News)
