High roller argues Crown took advantage

 
A gambler who wagered A$1.47 billion ($1.54 billion) over 14 months at Crown Casino in Melbourne, including A$164 million in one 5 1/2 hour run, argued in his final appeal before the High Court that the casino knew he had a gambling problem and took advantage of his "disability". Gold Coast businessman Harry Kakavas is seeking to recover A$20.5 million from Crown. He borrowed millions from banks, friends and family and stole A$286,000 in the course of his spree. His lawyer said the casino allowed him to bet A$300,000 a hand on baccarat and drove him to the bank after a A$1 million loss, despite having information that he was a problem gambler.
