HKJC closes all Off-Course Betting until further notice


The Hong Kong Jockey Club says it’s closing all of its Off-Course Betting branches from July 19th until further notice due to the latest outbreak of Covid-19 in the territory.

The club gave no further comment in a brief statement on its web site.

Races have continued during the crisis, though without customers present on the stands. For the latest 2019/2020 season, the club reported a 2.6 percent decline in racing turnover to HK$121.6 billion (US$15.68 billion). The club has benefited from commingling arrangements with a growing number of organisations globally and reported a 25.3 percent increase in commingling turnover.

Simulcast turnover in the year was up 12.9 percent.
