Hong Kong descends deeper into Covid-19 crisis

Government authorities in Hong Kong have imposed the strictest anti-infection policies yet as the latest wave of Covid-19 spirals out of control.

The new measures include making the wearing of face masks in public mandatory, the suspension of all restaurant dining, and a ban on more than two people gathering in public. Employers are being asked to allow employees to work from home.

On Monday alone, Hong Kong reported a record number of 145 new coronavirus infections, 142 of which are local cases. The number of patients in critical condition has risen to 39.

At present, the road out of Hong Kong’s Covid-19 crisis remains invisible.
