Hong Kong-Macau ferry services rise to 100 sailings per day

According to the Macau Marine and Water Bureau (DSAMA), there are 100 ferry services per day on the Hong Kong-Macau route, translating to a ferry departing every 15 minutes during peak times. The number represents an increase of five times compared with the initial period of resumption on 8 January.

DSAMA notes that the Hong Kong-Macau route currently has about 56 percent of its total capacity filled, meaning there is still room for more passengers. The government also indicates that travel patterns in the region have changed dramatically in recent years, with sea and land transport seeing significant passenger traffic increases.
The ferry sailings are directly related to Hong Kong visitor arrivals as the ferry continues to be one of the main transport options.
According to the statistical data, Macau welcomed almost 3.5 million tourists from Hong Kong in 1H23. The tally of visitors from neighboring Hong Kong had already recovered volume-wise to over 90 percent of 2019 levels.
