Indian police charge 22 in IPL scandal

Police in Mumbai have formally charged the former owner of the Chennai Super Kings cricket team in the country's match fixing scandal that has overtaken the Twenty20 league.  Gurunath Meiyappan, son in law of the chief of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, and Bollywood actor Vindu Dara Singh were charged with 

gambling, cheating, forgery and criminal conspiracy, but not with spot-fixing in which particular elements of the game are fixed, not the end result.  Meiyappan allegedly passed insider information about his team to Singh, who then allegedly passed it on to a network of underground bookies.  A hearing has been set for November 21.
