India’s Delta will drop Sri Lanka plans if legislation is unclear

India’s Delta Corp, which last week announced that it has bought land for a proposed casino in Sri Lanka, will drop its plans if legislation isn’t clear, or if there is no level playing field, Chairman Jaydev Modi told the Business Times in an emailed interview.

He said that Delta has acquired land for a proposed casino resort in Katunayake. “We have an 11-acre parcel of land near Bandaranaike International Airport, located in Katunayake, Colombo, touching the Negombo highway as well as the new expressway into Colombo,” he said. He also said that Delta has applied to the government as well as the Board of Investment (BoI) but has yet to hear from them.
