IPI to open within two weeks

Imperial Pacific’s integrated casino resort in Garapan is set to open within the next two weeks, according to reports from the Marianas Variety.

The decision to give IPI the “green light” for its opening was given by the regulator on Thursday in a meeting with IPI officials Henry Cheang, Eugene Sousa and Charles McDonald.

During the meeting CCC asked the officials whether they were ready to go live at the new facility.

According to MV, McDonald said they were still finalizing some important details of the transfer from T Galleria to the new facility, adding that they need at least 10 days to organize everything, while Sousa confirmed that they were planning to have an opening ceremony at the new facility on or before July 15.

The integrated resort on Saipan has met a number of delays since breaking ground, including problems created by Typhoon Soudelor in 2015, as well as workforce issues.

Earlier in June, IPI was given the go-ahead to open its casino provided it met certain conditions related to health and safety.

Saying that IPI is in compliance with the requirements, the casino commission approved the opening of the new facility on Thursday.
