IVS to restart in Guangdong in Aug., all China in Sept.

China has confirmed it will begin issuing individual visit scheme visas for the whole of Guangdong province on August 26 and will extend the program to all of China from Sept. 23.

On Monday, the Macau government confirmed that the issuance of IVS visas would begin for residents of Zhuhai on August 12.

As Bernstein notes, the reinstatement of the visas is the “leap” forward that operators have been waiting for after a series of baby steps in recent weeks that have relaxed some of the stringent border restrictions between Macau and the Mainland.

According to the firm, Guangdong accounted for 46 percent of visitation to Macau in 2029 and accounted for 30 percent of mass gross gambling revenue and 15 to 20 percent of VIP GGR.

Of the travellers from the province, 72 percent last year came in on IVS visas.
