Japanese player Daisuke Ogita wins APT Taipei Main Event

Japanese player Daisuke Ogita emerged victorious in the TWD70,000 (US2,270)  Asia Poker Tour Taipei Main Event, claiming TWD12.9 million ($409,730) prize after outlasting a field of 1,182 entries, including 737 unique players.

Ogita defeated Guo Zhang Xi in a brief heads-up match, with the Taiwanese player earning TWD 7,620,000 ($241,205) for the runner-up position.
The Main Event boasted a record-breaking prize pool of TWD72.2 million ($2.2 million), making it the richest tournament ever held in Taiwan, surpassing the previous record set in the 2023 edition of the APT Taipei Main Event.
Ogita's first prize also marks the second-largest ever awarded in an APT Main Event and the largest in Taiwan's poker history.
This victory not only represents Ogita's career-best score but also propelled him five spots up Japan's All-Time Money List, now ranking seventh and overtaking notable players like Iori Yogo and Jun Obara, with Nozomu Shimizu within reach.
APT Taipei Main Event was the largest and longest festival in Asian Poker Tour history, with the action-packed 12-day APT Taipei 2024 squeezing in 105 Trophy Events and boasting over TWD150 million ($4.8 million) in prize pool guarantees.
