JGC to bring insights, local and international expertise to Tokyo

Japan’s recent referendum to legalize the development of integrated resorts has sparked an outpour of support and interest from international operators and domestic firms, all wanting to be part of this historic development in the world’s third largest economy.

While there is much discussion in the gaming community around the updated bill, there are still many unknowns. When will licenses be distributed? What will the legislation look like? What are the most likely destinations to embrace integrated resorts? How will Japan treat its domestic market? What’s the realistic size of the marketplace?

The Japan Gaming Congress aims to answer these questions and more with the attraction of both international and local expertise at its upcoming return to Tokyo on May 10 and 11 of 2017.  Held at the Grand Hyatt Tokyo, the congress will focus over two days on many of the questions raised and will shed light on a variety of new information, including white paper data and presentations by both the public and private sectors of Japan. International expertise will also be on hand, including a variety of individuals with Japan experience and market understanding. Confirmed speakers will also include a variety of officials from both the Japanese government as well as related associations that will be impacted directly by the integrated resort development.

Operated by Clarion Events, the Japan Gaming Congress is estimated to attract over 430 professionals with a significant percentage of Japanese firms in attendance. In addition to the main event, several side events including breakfast seminars and dinners are planned, including invite-only sessions for executives to learn more about Japan’s development from key government officials.

Rory Credland, event director of Gaming at Clarion Events, states: “Japan has and will remain a key focus in our global conference program. Having pioneered gaming events in the region with our previous congress in 2014, we will remain committed to developing the Japan Gaming Congress, as well as other events, as part of our Japanese portfolio in the coming years. The referendum in Japan is an exciting yet sensitive subject; Clarion Events will proceed as the lead operator in gaming related events in the years to come.”

Chris Wieners, managing partner of HOGO, the event’s official marketing sponsor, noted: “This event is so important for not only the operators and private firms, but for the Japanese public. It’s integral that the realistic impacts and opportunities of integrated resorts in Japan are presented to them by experts in both the domestic and international gaming and tourism communities.”

The event is currently available for Advance Registration at a discounted rate of $1,399 (USD) per person.
