John Keells outlines Colombo integrated resort plan

John Keells Holdings PLC, Sri Lanka’s largest listed company and hotel operator, said its planned $820 million integrated resort project on Beira Lake in Colombo would include 150,000 square feet of gaming and entertainment facilities. The company provided few other hints about the gaming elements of the resort beyond comparing the project to ones in Macau, Singapore and the Philippines and saying the concept "appealed to many regional and western tourists" in a circular to shareholders seeking their approval for the development. It also noted "the growing demand for entertainment/gaming and retail from the Middle East, India and East Asia."
