Junket association calls for tighter requirements

The president of the Association of Gaming & Entertainment Promoters of Macau, Kwok Chi Chung, is calling for the Macau government to tighten requirements for junket promoters, Macau Daily Times reports.

Junket promoters currently need only to provide a total of MOP100,000 (US$12,400) in deposits to attain the status of junket promoter. Kwok however insisted that “MOP100,000 for doing businesses in the order of billions is, of course, too low.”

Kwok said that the requirements for junket promoters should be tightened, and the government should increase supervision over the gaming promoters.

Kwok said he would like to see restrictions placed on the accounts holding the funds that junket promoters have raised to prevent theft.
