KRA hopes to introduce online racing betting

The Korea Racing Authority has launched efforts to introduce online horse racing betting in the country, in the hopes of limiting illegal online betting.

According to a report from iGamingBusiness, a KRA representative said they hoped to introduce online racing betting and that the authority held a debate at the Korean National Assembly to discuss the issue.

At the moment, both online lottery and sports betting are legal in South Korea, however, horse racing betting is only allowed to be conducted at racecourses, or sanctioned off-track betting lounges - available only to foreigners.

Legislation on online racing in South Korea has not been filed, and KRA said the matter was still in its very early stages.
