Lionel Leong says MOP200 billion forecast is “reasonable”

Macau Secretary for Economy and Finance, Leong Vai Tac has stood behind the MOP 200 billion forecast for casino gaming revenue in 2016, saying it was ‘reasonable’ based on performance during the Lunar New Year period, according to the Government Information Bureau website.

The Secretary told reporters that gaming revenue during CNY was similar to that recorded in 2015.

When asked by reporters, Leong said gaming operators in Macau had solid development plans, and that the delays of some integrated resorts were related to a number of factors.

Leong also added he was confident in Macau’s non-gaming sector to attract international visitors.

In related news, according to Macau's Financial Services Bureau, the government's take on direct taxes on gaming dropped 34.5 percent in the full year of 2015 at MOP 84.4 billion from MOP128.9 billlion in 2014.
