Lobby group withdraws request for probe of Adelson

The Campaign for Accountability has retracted an allegation that accused Las Vegas Sands Chairman Sheldon Adelson of tolerating prostitution in his casinos.

The group said it regrets its request and has withdrawn its submission requesting an investigation.

“The allegations relied upon in making the requests are false and we apologize sincerely for any inconvenience or embarrassment suffered by Mr. Adelson and his family as a result of our statements and actions,” it said in a statement.

The Campaign for Accountability on Nov. 3 asked the U.S. Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs and the Federal Election Commission to investigate Adelson.
