Las Vegas Sands president and COO Rob Goldstein said he believes Osaka to be the only city in Japan suitable for a large-scale IR with “millions” of square feet of convention space, and “thousands” of hotel rooms.
Mr. Goldstein was speaking with analysts from Bernstein during a fireside chat at Bernstein’s 2019 Strategic Decision Conference.
During the talk, Goldstein said he believes the track record of building large-scale IRs in Singapore and Macau will give them an edge over their competitors.
Speaking of Macau, Goldstein was optimistic about the future, with beliefs that VIP will bounce back at some point. He also believes that income growth in China, along with better connectivity via the HZMB will drive gaming growth in Macau.
When asked about other markets, Goldstein mentioned that the only other market the company is considering entering is New York, and is currently engaging in conversations with partners.
