Macau 2Q22 mass GGR down 49.7 percent from year earlier

Macau’s mass market gross gambling revenue, including slots, dropped 49.7 percent from the same quarter of last year and was down 83.2 percent from pre-Covid levels.

According to a quarterly breakdown released by the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ), VIP GGR was down 94.3 percent from 2019 and 58.9 percent from 2021. 
Both segments also declined from the first quarter, with mass down 8.8 percent and VIP 1.2 percent. 
Mass table games accounted for 74.3 percent of total table revenue, up from 71 percent in the same period last year.
The total table game count was down 3 percent year on year, while the slot count was up 22 percent. 
Macau’s casinos are currently shuttered until July 22nd as the city battles its worst Covid outbreak so far. Analysts at Bernstein expect revenue to be down 98 percent this month and down 90 percent in August.
