Macau airport passenger volume at almost half of pre-pandemic levels

The passenger volume of Macau International Airport (MIA) has increased steadily, reaching more than 40 percent of the passenger levels registered during the same period in 2019, prior to the pandemic, the public company responsible for the airport’s operations revealed.

In a statement, Macau International Airport Co., Ltd. indicated that its handled passenger volume exceeded 1.95 million in the first half of 2023, with the average daily passenger volume in July reaching 16,000.
In order to meet the growing demand for travel, MIA plans to gradually resume the “Express Link” service in late August with the official launch of the Macau International Airport Check-In Centre on the ground floor at the Macau Frontier Port of Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB).
Passengers who travel via HZMB will be able to directly take the “Express Link” bus service to the restricted area of MIA after completing the check-in procedures at the Centre.
‘At the same time, the MIA “Service Center” in Jiangmen and Zhongshan are planned to resume operations in the fourth quarter, which would provide a more convenient, efficient, and comfortable travel experience for passengers in the Greater Bay Area,’ MIA Co announced.
