Macau casino staff sees 5.5 percent fall in earnings

The average earnings of staff members in Macau casinos as of June had fallen 5.5 percent year-on-year to MOP23,200 (US$2,900), according to the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC).

Dealers had it even worse, seeing their earnings down 7.6 percent to MOP19,270.

The Macau gaming industry’s total number of full-time employees stood at 57,459 at the end of June, down only slightly from 2019.

Under the current circumstances, however, there is near zero demand for new hires.

According to the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ), 38 of Macau’s 41 casinos are currently in operation.
