Macau concerned about hidden problem gambling cases

Macau’s Social Welfare Bureau says it has received 40 requests so far this year for help related to gambling problems, but fears there may be many more hidden cases, local media reports.
The bureau said that when the assistance program was first started more than 90 percent of the cases the bureau saw were from gamblers who already had an addiction. However, following active promotion of its services, they are now starting to see people at an earlier stage, the reports said.
"There are around 500 cases in our central registration system. However, we see there are many hidden cases out of it", said Bonnie Vu from the Bureau’s Resilience Centre.
