Macau court confirms Wynn unlawfully disclosed personal information

The Macau Court of First Appeal confirmed on Wednesday that Wynn Macau had unlawfully disclosed a former Pagcor official’s personal data without permission, Macau News reports.

“The court confirmed today that the act was committed in violation of the Macau Personal Data Protection Act,” prosecution lawyer José Leitão told MNA after a Wednesday court session.

The case involves Rogelio Yusi Bangsil Jr., who was an an Officer in Charge of Pagcor’s Gaming Department in 2010.

Bangsil, along with his wife, were named as two of 17 people who had allegedly received more than US$110,000 in gifts and payments from the then Wynn director Kazuo Okada.

At the time of the report, the results were used to force Okada out of the company, but also led to the tarnishing of Bangsil’s integrity and career.

The former Pagcor official began litigation against Wynn Macau in 2014, seeking damages.

“There is no truth to these allegations,” said Bangsil to MDT in 2017. “They [the allegations] cut short my career and the whole family suffered because of that... I want to be compensated for the damages they caused us – including my wife and my child,” he said.

The prosecution lawyer noted that no date has yet been scheduled for the announcement of the court’s final decision on the matter.
