Macau gaming tax revenue 77 percent of the budget forecast through August

Macau revenue from gaming taxes has reached 76.9 percent of the government’s budget forecast in the eight months through August.
The Macau government raked in gaming tax totaling MOP39.1 billion ($4.86 billion) in the first eight months of the year, according to details published by the SAR’s Financial Services Bureau.
The figure represents a 175 percent increase over the MOP14.2 billion ($1.77 billion) collected from January to August 2022.
At the same time, the August figure totaled MOP6.44 billion ($800 million).
Macau’s casino gross gaming revenue (GGR) grew by 3.3 percent month-on-month, to MOP17.2 billion ($2.1 billion) in August, the highest monthly volume this year, according to data released by the city’s casino regulator, the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ).
Macau’s casino GGR stood at MOP114 billion ($14.1 billion) for the first eight months of the year, an increase of 295 percent from a year earlier. The tally represents only 39 percent of the MOP292.4 billion ($36.1 billion) generated in GGR during FY19.
