Macau gaming taxes up 1.8 percent in 19H1

The Macau government raked in a total of MOP58.3 billion (US$7.2 billion) in gaming taxes in the first half of the year, according to data from the Financial Services Bureau.

The total gaming tax revenue is around 1.8 percent higher than the prior year period.

Earlier this month, the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau reported that accumulated gross gaming revenue for the first half of the year totaled MOP149.5 billion, a decrease of 0.5 percent year-on-year when compared to the same period last year.

Analysts pointed to the smoking ban, and US-China trade tensions are a driver of the lower GGR growth.
