Macau GGR up only 5.7 percent in February

Gross gaming revenue in Macau reached MOP24.3 billion (US$3 billion) in the month of February, according to the latest data from the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau.

The month’s GGR was a 5.7 percent increase compared to the prior year period - but significantly lower than the 36.4 percent year-on-year growth experienced in January.

Bernstein said the reason for this is tied with the timing of Chinese New Year, as the pre-CNY period fell in February this year, rather than January last year.

Looking at combined GGR for both January and February, GGR increased by 19.7 percent year-on-year reaching MOP 50.6 billion, inline with previous estimates, said Bernstein.
