Macau’s health department is forecasting that gross gaming revenue will decline 2.7 percent to 4.6 percent in the event of a total smoking ban in Macau, local broadcaster TDM reported, though analysts at Union Gaming say they expect the smoking chatter to die down.
After Macau’s Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, Alexis Tam, seemed to open the door to commentary on allowing smoking lounges and since the legislative body shelved the smoking bill until next year due to time constraints, Union Gaming predicts there will be less talk on smoking, “which we would categorize as “no news is good news” for the time being.”
