Macau gov’t gaming tax revenue tops $899M in August

In August, the Macau government generated just over MOP7.16 billion ($899 million) in fiscal revenue from gaming taxes, marking a 4.8 percent increase from July, according to data released by the Financial Services Bureau on Tuesday.

From January to August, the government collected nearly MOP58.78 billion ($7.38 billion) in gaming taxes, a 50.3 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
Gaming taxes accounted for 84.7 percent of the total revenue, which reached almost MOP69.42 billion in the first eight months of 2024.
The government’s 2024 budget anticipates gaming tax revenue will reach approximately MOP83.61 billion ($10.49 billion) this year, with the current collection representing 70.3 percent of that target. In 2023, Macau authorities collected MOP65.26 billion ($8.19 billion) from gaming taxes, exceeding the budgeted amount by 28.3 percent.
As revealed by the city’s gaming regulator, Macau’s gross gaming revenue (GGR) amounted to MOP19.75 billion ($2.46 billion) in August. Meanwhile, Macau’s casino GGR from January to August reached MOP152.10 billion ($19.92 billion).
