Macau hotel occupancy rate 73.9 percent in June


The average hotel occupancy rate in June dropped notably by 10.6 percentage points year-on-year to 73.9 percent, according to data from the Statistics and Census Service.

Three-star hotels led the decline at 75.7 percent, a year-on-year decrease of 7.1 percent.

The occupancy rate of 5-star hotels dropped by 10.7 percentage points to 75.3 percent. 

A total of 859,000 guests checked into hotels and guesthouses in June, down by 1.9 percent. Guests from Mainland China and Taiwan  decreased by 7.0 percent to 518,000 and 0.7 percent to 33,000, respectively, while those from Hong Kong dropped by 24.8 percent to 139,000.

Visitors on package tours totalled 707,000 in June, down by 17.5 percent YoY, while package tour visitors from Mainland China decreased by 16 percent to 566,000.

For the first six months of the year, total hotel guests reached 4.9 million, down by 7.6 percent year-on-year, while the average occupancy rate stood at 78.1 percent, a decrease of 7.8 percentage points.
