Macau loses two non-gaming attractions

Macau has lost two of its non-gaming attractions this past weekend, with Sands Cotai Central hosting its final Po’s Kung Fu Feast Character Breakfast on Sunday and Studio City closing its House of Magic attraction.

Sands announced at the end of September that it ended a deal with Dreamworks Animation to use cartoon characters from its films in non-gaming areas of the property. The deal had been in place since 2013.

“After an extended five-year engagement at the integrated resort… the DreamWorks Experience, including the ever popular Po’s Kung Fu Feast Character Breakfast, will enjoy its final weeks at Sands Cotai Central, with the last breakfast show to be held on October 8,” Sands China said in a release.

Bernstein Research noted Studio City closed the House of Magic in a note on Monday.

“For Studio City, the House of Magic has not been a successful venue. Melco is looking at repositioning portions of the property but has not yet announced a replacement feature,” the firm said.

The House of Magic was a multi-theater attraction designed by U.S. illusionist Franz Harary. The largest theater boasts 300 seats, with two additional spaces with a capacity for 150.
