Macau MICE events record 5.4 percent attendance decline in 2019

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that although a total of 1,536 MICE events were held over the course of 2019, the number of participants and attendees, 2,003,000, represented a decline of 5.4 percent.

Specifically, there were 1,459 meetings and conferences (up 117), 58 exhibitions (down 2) and 19 incentives (down 6) in 2019.

The fourth quarter 2019 results were largely unchanged year-on-year at with 461 total events, but the number of participants and attendees was 733,000, down by 0.4 percent.

Macau has been trying to strengthen its non-gaming offerings.
