Macau police arrest Stanley Ho’s nephew in prostitution bust

Macau have police arrested Alan Ho, a senior executive of SJM Holdings and a nephew of the group’s founder Stanley Ho, along with five other people suspected of running a prostitution ring, according to media reports.

Ho was under suspicion of running a ring at the company’s Lisboa hotel.

The bust was the largest crackdown on alleged prostitution since the former Portuguese colony was returned to China in 1999, the reports said.

The suspected prostitution ring made at least 400 million Macanese pataca ($50 million) from some 2,400 sex workers, the Wall Street Journal said. In addition to the six suspected ring leaders, the government took 96 suspected sex workers to the public prosecutions office for further investigation, the WSJ cited a police statement as saying.
