Macau shuts all casinos due to super typhoon Saola

Macau authorities ordered all the casinos to shut down late Friday as the city raised the No. 9 storm signal at 11 p.m.

Macau Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng stated in an earlier order that authorities would temporarily close all gambling facilities once a signal higher than No. 8 is issued.
All the borders of Macau were closed at 8 p.m. on Friday for the same reason.
Just a day before, the Marine and Water Bureau of Macau announced the suspension of the ferry service between Macau and Hong Kong.
The shuttle service between Hong Kong International Airport and Macau via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge also closed after raising signal number 8. According to authorities, bus service will only resume two hours after signal number 8 is taken down.
Super Typhoon Saola was compared with Typhoon Hato, which occurred in 2017. The late warning from authorities about Hato led to 10 deaths in the gaming hub, and some casinos were forced to close due to electricity failures.
