Macau Slot Co Ltd, a betting concessionaire, recorded net income of MOP121.83 ($15.2 million) million last year, up by nearly MOP20 million from the year before due to increased betting on World Cup 2014 activities.
Sports lottery bets on football raked in MOP598 million for the year, up from MOP419 million, driven by the June to July World Cup in Brazil. Lottery bets on basketball decreased during the year by 8 percent to MOP138 million.
“For future prospects, we continue looking for products more diversified sports lotteries to meet customer needs and improve information technology to provide the best resources to our clients,” according to a translation of the company’s statement in the Official Gazette.
