Macau strengthens hospitality education links with Vietnam

Macau is strengthening its hospitality education links with Vietnam, with the Macao University of Tourism (UTM) inking a dual bachelor program with the Duy Tan University of Vietnam (DTU).

According to a recent announcement, the move is part of UTM’s push to ‘nurture well-rounded talents with professional qualities and a global perspective’.
UTM is one of the main educational institutes in Macau supplying gaming and hospitality graduates to the integrated resort sector, with over 900 new undergraduate and postgraduate students per year.
The new agreement, ‘1.5+2.5’, means that after completing one and a half years of student, students at DTU can transition to an equivalent program at UTM.
The university indicates that ‘according to the academic framework established by both universities, these students will seamlessly advance to the fourth semester and onwards within a related bachelor’s program at UTM. They will meet the remaining degree requirements following a predefined study plan and subsequently receive undergraduate degree certificate from UTM and DTU respectively'.
This encompasses a Bachelor of Science in Tourism Business Management from UTM and a Bachelor’s degree in Tour & Tourism Management (International Program) from DTU.
UTM is one of Macau’s leading educational institutes, highly regarded in the QS World University Ranking.
DTU is one of the top five tertiary education establishments in Vietnam and is the first university in the country to attain the UN Tourism TedQual accreditation.
