Macau’s Covid-19 infection risk now “very low”

Health Bureau Director Lei Chin Ion stated on Tuesday that the risk of Covid-19 infection in Macau now was “very low.”

On the same day, the last patient under treatment for Covid-19 in Macau, a 15-year-old girl, was discharged from the hospital.

Macau has not recorded any new Covid-19 cases for 41 days, and since the beginning of the year the territory recorded only 45 patients, none of whom died.

Eyes are turning to the question of when border controls can be eased, in particular with China’s Guangdong Province, but no firm timeline has yet been offered by the Macanese authorities.
