Malaysian authorities confiscate and dispose of gambling machines

Malaysian authorities disposed of gambling machines and other items worth RM5.4 million ($1.5 million) that were seized in operations to crack down on illegal activity.

Eight gambling machines estimated to be worth RM20,000, computer products and telecoms devices were seized in nine operations from July last year to March this year, news source Bernama reported.

Adnan Md Ikshan, secretary-general of the Federal Territories Ministry, said business owners had been given three months to claim their goods before authorities disposed of the items, however, in future they will only get one month.

“After this, we will shorten the period to only one month for owners of premises found doing business without a licence, … to get a new business licence and reclaim their goods,” he told reporters.
