Malaysian police continue crackdown on illegal gambling

Over 70 individuals were arrested last week following a series of raids throughout Borneo, targeting illegal gambling premises and illegal character lottery.

A total of RM 37,722 ($9,350) was seized in cash, according to State CID chief Datuk Dev Kumar, adding the raids were held between August 22, and 28.

“The raids resulted in the arrest of 72 individuals engaged in promoting public lottery without licence and online gambling,” he said in a statement on Tuesday.

On the 72 nabbed, Kumar said they were aged between 14 and 70 years, and nine of them were foreigners. Fifty six of them were males.
