Marina Bay Sands opens luxury Japanese restaurant

Previewing the kind of facility which may eventually be available in Japanese IRs, Marina Bay Sands in Singapore has opened a luxury Japanese restaurant called KOMA, which has a capacity to host over three hundred people.

KOMA was conceptualized by the Tao Group, a global hospitality company that also brought the Ferris wheel nightclub Marquee to Marina Bay Sands, and was designed by the US firm Rockwell Group,

The entranceway to KOMA is a twenty meter passageway lined with torii in the style of Kyoto’s Fushimi Inari Shrine. The main room features a 2.5 meter high bell and a replica of a traditional Japanese footbridge. The ceilings are high, creating an open, spacious feeling.

The most expensive item on the menu is the wagyu beef, coming in at S$275 (about US$200) per serving.
