Online sportsbooks say the much-anticipated fight Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao on May 2 is by far the biggest booked fight in the history of online betting.
One online bookie said that the action surrounding the fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas is already rivaling Super Bowl and could become the biggest single betting event this year.
Online gambling site Bodog told CalvinAyre.com that it has Mayweather as the -220 favorite, meaning $220 would have to be placed on the boxer to win $100. For the Philippines' Manny Pacquiao bettors would need to risk $100 to get $175 back.
Sources at Bodog added that they’ve seen a steady stream of money coming in on Pacquiao to drive the odds down. Big bets are being put on Mayweather but the majority of the bets are backing the 36-year-old Filipino.
The gambling site added that punters expecting the undefeated Mayweather to win have spread their money throughout the fight, whereas those backing the underdog, Pacquiao, have mainly put their cash on the later rounds suggesting he’ll win on a late knockout.
