MCE co-organizes Macau Special Olympics sports fun day


On Sunday, Melco Crown Entertainment co-organized the first ‘MCE Cares - Special Olympics Sports Fun Day’ with Macau Special Olympics to promote integration of intellectual disabilities and physical agility. The event is a warm-up for the Special Olympics World Games 2015 to be held in Los Angeles this summer. The Company is very proud of the MCE Volunteers, a dedicated team of Melco Crown Entertainment colleagues who participated with over 40 Special Olympics athletes.

‘MCE Cares - Special Olympics Sports Fun Day’ was held on June 7 (Sunday), 11am to 5pm at Stadium A of Macao Federation of Trade Unions. Guests of honor included members of the Legislative Council and representatives from Macau Education and Youth Affairs Bureau and Sports Council.

Mr. Hetzer Siu, national director of Macau Special Olympics, said in his speech, “On behalf of Macau Special Olympics, I would like to thank Melco Crown Entertainment for their generosity.  The first ‘MCE Cares - Special Olympics Sports Fun Day’ provided a lot of fun for our athletes. It eased their stress and cheered them all as they prepare to deliver their best performance for the Special Olympics World Games.”

Ms. Akiko Takahashi, executive vice president, chief human resources and corporate social responsibility officer said, “Melco Crown Entertainment has devoted its efforts in making a difference in the community. Volunteerism is one of the most important ways to contribute, and this event is especially poignant in demonstrating that MCE Cares. The Company is very proud to support Macau government’s policy of encouraging development of competitive sports in Macau and participation of international sports events by local athletes.”
