Dealers from Melco Resorts have submitted a petition to the Labor Affairs Bureau claiming the company has miscalculated their provident fund, or retirement fund contribution, local media reports.
According to the New Macau Gaming Staff Rights Association, around 1,933 signatures have been collected - with claims that the operator has been calculating the funds based on their base salary.
According to the head of the association, Cloee Chao, the calculation for the occupational taxation that dealers need to pay to the government is based upon their entire salary, including the base salary and tips.
Chao said a similar complaint was made by dealers at other properties, but this was rectified for most around four years ago, “except Melco”.
“We hope that the DSAL will investigate the case in order to check whether the company has made a mistake or workers had misunderstood [the policy],” said Ms. Chao.
