Melco’s brand new hotel tower opens today

After unveiling the concept in late-2016, Melco Resorts’ first wholly-developed hotel tower, Morpheus, celebrates its grand opening today.

Morpheus is the first hotel brand to be wholly developed and created by Melco Resorts, which it says will “set a new benchmark for ultra-luxury hospitality in Macau.”

The hotel tower is known visually for its unique exterior exoskeleton, designed by prize-winning architect Dame Zaha Hadid.

“Morpheus incorporates a number of architectural and technological breakthroughs that make it a one-of-a-kind marvel, both inside and out,” said the company during a media tour on Thursday.

The $1.1 billion hotel tower, which received its license to operate on Thursday from the Macau Government Tourism Office, will offer  772 guest rooms, suites and villas, complemented by facilities including specialty restaurants, an executive lounge, spa, and swimming pool.

The hotel resort will also include 12,000 square feet of retail outlets, with brands including  Proenza Schouler, Thom Browne and Repossi, along with a host of pop-up stores with “must-have” brands.

Mr. David Sisk, property president of City of Dreams, Macau, said: "It’s rare, even in the world of luxury, when a project of this scale maintains a focus on details to the level found here in Morpheus.  It’s a game changer for Macau, a new benchmark for integrated resorts, and a perfect example of how Melco always does things differently."

The brand new hotel tower is located at City of Dreams Macau.
