MGM celebrates success in local talent development

MGM held a graduation ceremony for nearly 900 team members on Thursday. Graduates completed talent development programs in local leadership development, continuing education and professional skills and vocational training.

In 2017, the company offered over 200 training courses and provided more than 569,000 training hours with an average of 62 hours per team members.

Mr. Grant Bowie said of the event. “At MGM, we believe that Macau’s future is being shaped by Macau’s own people. Therefore, we take a special interest in developing our local talents to enhance the overall talent pool of Macau. In addition to training up local leaders and providing our team members with over 200 continuing education courses, we also focus on developing our talent through rigorous skills training and helping them achieve professional qualifications. We will be an active contributor towards Macau’s role as the tourism education and training hub for the Greater Bay Area through providing more talent development opportunities for our team members.”

Mr. Glen Wai, Chef de Cuisine of In Room Dining of MGM COTAI, received “MGM Outstanding Learner Award” at the event and expressed his excitement, “I have been in the culinary industry for more than 30 years. I had moved to the States for a while, but now I am back here and have been working at MGM for more than four years. I am pleased to be given the opportunity to partake in the intensive 15-month PRIDE program, and visited hotels of MGM Resorts International in Las Vegas, which I have acquired loads of management knowledge and put into practice. I am also grateful to the Company for re-arranging my work schedule to accommodate my study, which allows me to achieve balance between work and family life.”

MGM said it has put tremendous efforts and emphasis in developing local talents through its wide range of training programs.
