MGM commits to sustainable recovery post typhoon Hato

MGM is making donations and offering volunteer support for the Macau community post Typhoon Hato.

Immediately after the typhoon, MGM reached out to various community associations, seeking ways to work collaboratively and not overlap with other resources, so as to offer the best possible support.

Over the past three weeks, the company has made a vast effort to help the recovery of local communities, including the purchase of rehab buses for Caritas de Macau and Fuhong Society of Macau; stair aids for Caritas de Macau; donations to repair damage to the exterior and interior of Sao Jose Ka Ho School; purchase of diagnostic equipment and setup of an audiometer testing room for the Macau Deaf Association, as well as donations to Macau Special Olympics’ social enterprise, Sociedade de Ngai Chun Se Ltda, to purchase cleaning equipment.

“A majority of Macau has been impacted by this typhoon, but it has brought about the united spirit of Macau residents with their swift actions and selfless effort to help each other,” MGM China CEO Grant Bowie said. “Macau is the community where we do our business and our employees live, it is crucial for MGM to join hands and unite with the community. With our ethos of ‘Creating a Better Macau,’ we will not only focus on rebuilding Macau in the short term, but more importantly, the sustainable recovery of our local community in the long run.”

During the week of Typhoon Hato, the Golden Lion Volunteer Team, who joined forces with União Geral das Associações dos Moradores de Macau (UGAMM) and Macau Federation of Trade Unions, helped distribute meal boxes and water to senior citizens.
