There were a total of 224 MICE events held in Macau in 15Q2, up by 54 year-on-year, while the number of visitors dwindled, according to information from the Statistics and Census Service.
The total number of participants and attendees dropped by 21.7 percent to 404,982, attributable to a decrease in large-scale exhibitions, the Service said.
Total floor area used for the events was 153,167 m2, and the average duration of events was 2.3 days.
There were 208 meetings and conferences held in 15Q2, up by 56 year-on-year, with the number of participants increasing by 25.5 percent to 21,215.
In the first half year of 2015, a total of 424 MICE events were held, up by 45 year-on-year, while the total number of participants and attendees decreased by 19.6 percent to 654,162.
Information collected from organizers of 25 exhibitions in the first half year show that exhibition receipts amounted to MOP 78.11 million ($9.78 million), with 64.9 percent coming from rental of exhibition booths and 34.5 percent from financial support from government or other organizations.
